"OUR DREAM and ASPIRATIONS"

PHILIPPINE COMMEMORATIVE  WALL

HELP US BUILD IT

While the strong relationship between the Philippines and the United States is evident nationally, it is also exemplified in daily life at the local level in communities all across the country.  This is especially true of Southeast Texas.  The Association seeks to build a tangible legacy and presence of the Filipino community by constructing a monument to commemorate the significant contributions to cultural diversity and development, as well as economic development, of past, present and future Filipino generations to Southeast Texas.

Help us build it.  Donate to this cause.

BAHAY KUBO SA BEAUMONT

The strong presence of the Filipino community in Southeast Texas made PABT celebrate its 30th anniversary in the year 2018. “Bayanihan” is a Filipino value and custom derived from a Filipino word “bayan”, which means nation, town or community. The term “bayanihan” itself literally means “being in a bayan”, which refers to the spirit of communal unity, work and cooperation to achieve a particular goal.

It is time for the Filipino community to push and apply this bayanihan spirit to the next level.  To work towards a greater vision of building a common space for all -

“BAHAY KUBO” (A Filipino Traditional Home).  This will provide a space like a library to preserve Filipino stories for generation to come. A space like a museum to preserve Filipino traditions and heritage.  Bahay Kubo is a tangible place where Filipinos can call it a “Home away from Home”. This building will promote camaraderie among members and non-members. It will educate youth and remind adults of the importance of Filipino culture and importance of education.  It will provide, a place where Filipinos can gather and relive their life in the Philippines. This is a place where members and non-members can build camaraderie and learn from each other.

“Bahay Kubo” project is important to help unite Filipinos and bridge the gap of past. present and future Filipino American in Southeast Texas.  It will be a place where we will highlights Filipino arts, designs, fashion, music, and language. It will showcase Filipino ingenuity and originality. Original Filipino handicraft, furnitures, decor, books and music will be displayed all over. Volunteers will offer “Filipino” language lesson for young Filipino-Americans.

Presence of  “BAHAY KUBO” in the Golden Triangle is a community development endeavor that will serve as  constant reminder of the significant contributions of the Filipino people in promoting diversity and unity in the community.  It is a symbolism of cultural pride for the Filipinos residing in the Golden Triangle.  WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW.
